| - This is a BIG liquor store, but one that still seems to pay some attention to the local guys. When a little brewery like Dandy Brewing in Calgary releases a one of that sells out instantly in the brewery, and the only place that will be carrying it is Co-op liquor, I can't help but think they must be doing something right!
They've got an enormous walk in "Beers Of The World" beer fridge with a very well thought out and exciting selection of interesting brews. It's nice to see not only quantity, but a well curated selection.
The majority of this alcoholic Wal-Mart is wine, but they've got a pretty large selection of spirits as well. If you're looking for something popular, or a little off the main stream, there's a very good chance you'll be able to find it at this co-op.
Along with the size come some rather spectacular specials. Today, I picked up a 15 year Gledfiddich at more than $20 off/bottle. If you keep your eyes open and are open to trying new things, there are some pretty smokin' deals here basically all the time.
With any bix box style store, their short coming is absolutely customer service. Beyond ringing your through at the till, the staff are non-existent. Go here because you want to browse on your own and get a fair price, but know that you'll be making your selection on your own. There's really no point asking for a recommendation.
Still.. A very, very fun place to explore.
