| - Same place.. new name. I want this place to be successful because it's within walking distance of my house. But, when I see NEWLY RENOVATED on the marque outside I expect to be wowed. The makeover is underwhelming at best. It consists of a hodgepodge of low end sports memorabilia, cheap flags and pennants mostly. There's no real direction with the decor. There are plenty of TVs to watch your favorite team. The bathrooms got a makeover but I don't know how sanitary exterior stucco is going to be on bathroom walls. The mens bathroom door hasn't fit the door frame perfectly for YEARS but nobody cares and I may be nitpicking on that one. There is no privacy in the mens bathroom, when the door opens about four tables in the dining area can see you in all your glory. One end of the room has old school astro turf as it's flooring. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be a bocce ball court or they just ran out of the garage floor coating they used on the rest of the room.
The menu itself, is nothing flashy. It's in a cheap clear plastic paper protector that flops over if you don't hold it properly. Nothing really pops on the menu. It has kind of a corny "First Half" "Second Half" theme going on but they don't really need it. Just stick with Starters, Entrees, Desserts, Wings and Burgers sections.
This place has an AWESOME beer selection but I wouldn't really know it or care because they don't print out a beer menu so I can sit there and decide what I'm going to have next. I have to ask what's on tap then I'm overwhelmed with the response so I go with a low end easy selection. I want to drink a good beer while deciding which one I'm going to have next. Showcase it! A simple printer and some decent stock paper and, voilå, a beer menu...shocking.
I haven't tried anything but the wings here and they are cooked perfectly. I've ordered them twice, both times hot, and they are great. I consider them medium wings but I don't really care. They are great.
Something that really stands out to me about the menu is the lack of burger options. They have one. No variations. Just a basic classic american burger. Most good sports bars have a pretty good burger selection. This place doesn't. I haven't tried it and maybe it's just that good but who knows?
I almost forgot...My table had 5 beers total and there were 5 different styles of beer glasses, mugs, etc. There was no consistency.
I'll be back for the wings and the beer selection and TV's. I'll just have to sit at the bar so I can see the taps.
