  • Horrible so called Hospital. As others have said, DO NOT ALLOW YOUR FAMILY TO GO HERE. I am fighting now to get my partner removed from this facility after only 1 day in their "so called" treatment. Presumably she was on scheduled pain medication after having a 13 hour back surgery on the 28th of April. When she finally pushed the call button and someone came in, she explained as did I that the medication HAD to be on a regular schedule due to the amount of pain which surely anyone would understand after a 13 hour back surgery. The so called NURSE stated this is your "SCHEDULED" pain medication. To state she was condecending would be putting it mildly. Due to all of the pain meds and surgery, my partner of 18 years was suffering from severe constipation. The briliant Doctor ordered an enema, which was ok had they given it to her and stayed in the ROOM full well knowing she would go to the bathroom almost immediately. Instead, they left the room with her on her side without the back brace she was to be wearing. At approximately 4:00pm in the afternoon, she went all over herself. At 5:30pm someone went in and found her unconscious having a seizure. When I arrived to see her at 6pm, little did I know that the ambulance out front had her in it. When I went in, her bed was empty and they told me she was being transported to Desert Springs Hospital. I asked why they did not call me. Simply stated "they were busy making other calls." What the hell. Really????? You need to call the family people. Due to their horrible, horrible care, my partner is now at Desert Springs, admitted waiting for a MRI to determine cause of the seizures. She was doing fine when she left the REAL nurses at UMC. Within 1 day, the place managed to almost kill her. The pain this has brought to my wonderful partner, myself, our daughter and my family is unimaginable. All we needed was 1-2 weeks of Physical Therapy so she could come home. Needless to say, that is what we are doing now. I refuse to watch her suffer in a so called REHAB hospital with the lack of care and expertise needed to treat someone with such a major surgery rehabilitation. I can do better myself with my past experience of being a Paramedic. DO NOT ALLOW family members or loved ones to go here. I was told to avoid this place and unfortunately, insurance sent her there. Well, now she will sign out and NEVER go back.
