Generally this is a fun place to go. It's near the light rail and it's right downtown for the office drones to unwind after work. I only gave this 3 stars because it completely let me down tonight when I had food delivered. Normally the food is exactly what you expect from a pub--heavy comfort food that hits the spot if you're out drinking. It also has one of my favorite chef salads. Tonight I had a salad delivered for tomorrow and a beef stew delivered for dinner tonight. I've traveled in Ireland and the Irish excel at comfort soups and stews.
What I got tonight was sincerely bad. It was insanely over salted and heavily congealed. I picked out the three pieces of meat, two carrot slices, and one potato bit and left the remaining salty jelly for my begging dog. Even she didn't get past a couple of licks. Bad, bad. I expect better for both the price and the heritage of the dish.
There is a rivalry between Seamus' and George and Dragon. GND got its little feelers in a bunch over my review and asked for it to be taken down. I will say one thing...at least GND accurately reflects the horrible, bland, heavy food of the English...quite a low bar. The Irish have much better food and a correspondingly higher bar. Damnit, Seamus', I root for you in this! You can do better...please do.
