Brought laptop in for repair two days ago. Told hard drive likely bad. $100 to do check, and if bad, put in a new hard drive for another $100. And then add more RAM for cost of the RAM. Also can pull old time machine image from when lots of good data onto new drive.
Got call yesterday - almost done. Should be done today. Got call just now (Tech, Chad) - it's done, and data from old hard drive on laptop installed. What? That isn't what we wanted and told would happen. Told another $50 or so to do that. Asked for manager.(Bjorn) Told nope, can't accommodate. In fact, should have charged us just to transfer the data from old hard drive! (which we were not told would cost anything)
First time we've used Mac Media and it will be the last. Too bad as we had plenty more work for them to do. Heading to pick up laptop now. Wonder if I got a used hard drive that will break down in a month.
(Edited) Picked up the laptop last night. They put in a 320 gig hard drive, even though we got a call from them asking if we would like a 500 gig or a 1 TB drive. My wife approved the 500. When I picked it up last night and told the manager this, he shrugged it off like it didn't happen.
He kept apologizing and asking what he could do to "make it right" and I simply said - put the right files from the external drive onto the new hard drive. He said, "sure, no problem. But it will cost you..." That simply is not my definition of making it right. Do what you say you will do.
