It's an overfilled shelter trying to do the best they can with what resources they have. We just adopted our third pet, a 10 year old Chihuahua that they had just picked up from a kill shelter. Sweetest little guy!
My wife and I are major animal lovers and help out when and with what we can. I recommend checking out their wish list on Amazon or donating funds if you don't have the time to volunteer. They are understaffed and severely overcrowded. Especially in the cats area.
I understand the frustration of the staff when people are trying to bring their animals in. Having dealt with this myself, there are many instances where people did not think it through when getting a pet. This is a commitment to care for another life. We have run through a number of medical issues with our animals but would not give them up because they are part of the family...
If you are looking for a pet please adopt and don't go to a pet store or breeder. There are too many animals living in shelters.
