  • Well, I came back to this buffet a few months ago. Though it wasn't as good as I remembered it from last year, it was still far superior to any other buffets that I have tried on the Strip. To my knowledge they are the most expensive buffet...nevertheless they are worth it. I think they may be the only ones to still serve Alaskan King Crab legs in addition to snow crab. They also have Jonah crab claws which can fool one into believing they are the much more expensive Florida stone crab claws...don't bother with these as the effort required to break through these shells is not worth the payoff. If you're lazy like me, you'll stick with the easier rewards of the crab legs, which are served chilled. If you prefer them hot, you can request these at the Italian station around the corner in the back (little known fact!) This buffet has by far the most extensive choices. I thought their soups were particularly well done, as well as some of the Chinese dim sum and congee. I would pass on the Italian and Mexican stations, but partake of the carving station. The spread at the seafood station is great, especially the crab choices and chilled shrimp. Definitely don't miss the huge desert stations... it actually tastes as if they make them on location rather than buy frozen premade generic pastries. Now for the bad...unless you go at off times, it is crazy busy. They have a row of electronic kiosks at the entrance. You check in here and you are given a time to come back...to wait in line! But wait...it's apparently exponentially worse on holidays! I thought I was being clever on Xmas Eve...we would come early at 3:45pm so we wouldn't have to wait. What a shock to see the masses already in line...our printout instructed us to come back at 8:20pm. But I was assured by the girl supervising the line that we would only have about an hour wait when we actually got into the line...no problem...we got a snack at the food court, went back to our hotel room at the Cosmo and showered and packed before returning. Wow! The place was mobbed like a Justin Bieber concert! OMFG it was seriously crazy! It looked like half if Hong Kong was there! What made it worse was that it was so chaotic. We took our place in line which was no where near the roped section...we were near the doors to the pool...but there was nothing to keep people from just cutting in willy nilly...the girl taking the printouts was all the way up at the kiosks. What total BS! We moved about 10 feet in almost an hour. I checked in with the girl running things and was told that our line would probably be another 2 hours ( yeah right...more like 2 days). A quick bit of math told me that the buffet would be closed by the time we got in...she said they would not kick anyone out...but seriously, are we supposed to believe they would keep freshening food all the way past closing??? What really gets me is the way they price gouge people...first, they bumped the price up to $68 a head from $59 for the holidays...then they offered to let people skip the line for essentially doubling the admission fee, adding anoth $50 per person! Well, we finally gave up. I'm only an ABC...I don't have nearly the tenacity and perseverance of the hordes of foreign national Asians. We ended up eating at the Palm in the Forum Shoppes...a pretty good meal of itself. The whole experience kind of pissed me off...they should have warned us earlier that it would get crazy like this instead of stringing us along. I intend to get my revenge the next time I'm here by fasting a week beforehand then eating my weight's worth in Alaskan King crab legs! That'll show'em!
