The 2 stars is generous. I have no problem with the $6/car entrance fee if you're just going for a casual one time visit. If you want to do frequent hiking or running, then it's not worth it.
This park was not relaxing or enjoyable. We had a picnic lunch that we brought and ate at a picnic table. Later I noticed a peacock resting on the table where we ate and realized the smudge mark I saw earlier as we were eating must have been the remains of a peacock poop pile. Gross. I should have brought a tablecloth.
We'd like to rename this park " Goose Poop Park". Or "Goop Park". You definitely don't want to walk in the grass because it's very difficult to miss the poop. The paths were bad as well, but you could spot the poop easier and therefore dodge it easier. It's good for developing coordination. It might be a good game for kids. I think they should give a pooper scooper and a plastic bag to each carload and tell kids if they could fill the bag up with goose poop, they could get the $6 fee back. A good way for kids to earn $ and it might help clean up the park. (Never complain without a solution to the complaint.).
We thought, great... There's water! However the ponds are so slimy looking with green water and green/yellow gunk floating on the top...a nice little giardia nursery. No swimming or wading for sure. I would be concerned about eating a fish I caught while fishing in those ponds. Again...gross. Some of the ponds areas along the path had that yucky damp smell , a mixture of decomposing poop and dirty water evaporating. Did I mention..."gross" ?
The history pathway was interesting, however they had informative, "you are here" maps which didn't make much sense because they weren't oriented correctly. It would make more sense to just have a sign with an accompanying historical explanation in front of what you were looking at.
One thing we did like was the small resting spot at one area of the path with a memorial marker under some of the pine trees honoring people who had been murdered. Weird, but interesting. And oddly enough , there wasn't as much poop there.
Another cool thing were the peacocks and bunnies. The peacocks are beautiful!
I will never go back to this place.
