  • Finally, a place that isn't my beloved Pinkberry yet serves nice smooth frozen yogurt. After being disappointed by the quality of other frozen yogurt joints, I was curious to see if TCBY had rebranded to meet the current yogurt trend. I stopped by the new location in Birkdale and found a bright, well kept shop w/an asthetic similar to Pinkberry. Unlike PB, this is a self serve joint. This makes for some disorganization amongst the customers (seriously people, tell your kids to get in line) and the staff only gives you two little pill cups for sampling. 10 flavors + 2 cups....either you get in line to ask for more cups, violate health and social decency codes to reuse those cups or you don't sample everything :( If you are like me, you want to scream, "I like my choices!" That said, the yogurt has a smooth, creamy texture - unlike Yoforia and Red Mango, whom I found to be more icy and sorbet-like. The flavors seem more authentic than the other joints, but still, nothing seems as fresh as the almighty PB. I enjoyed the white chocolate and raspberry. The only flavor that was icy in texture was, appropriately, a sorbet! Lots of topping choices ranging from healthy, fresh fruit and junk food to gooey sryups. I was pleasantly surprised to find TCBY to be lower in price than many self-serve competitors. I was quite happy to use the savings on some Birkdale goodies while I savored my yogurt and strolled 'the village.'
