| - Had a late dinner here. Neither of us were starving, so we opted for this spot over RM Seafood downstairs. We each ordered a cocktail (spiced pear for her, smoked whiskey with housemade cola for me) and three small plates to share. My drink was a bit sweeter than I like, possibly because the cola had very little carbonation, but it was very tasty nonetheless.
We ordered the charcuterie board, chicken pot pie nuggets, and duck confit poutine topped with a sunny side up egg for an extra $2. The charcuterie was very good: prosciutto di Parma, capicola, and a very smoky pancetta served with grilled bread, mustard, pickled vegetables, and perhaps the best tomato jam I've ever tasted. I wasn't overly thrilled with the pot pie nuggets; I guess I was expecting actual chunks of chicken inside. The flavor was good, however, and they were hotter than napalm when delivered to the table. Thankfully both our food runner and waiter advised us to be careful. The duck confit poutine was served over Rick Moonen's incredible tater tots, which have to be among the best on this planet. The confit by itself was a little salty, but when eaten with a tater tot, some cheese curd, and the bordelaise sauce, it was amazing. Our waiter, Jack, was friendly and very knowledgeable about the food, the restaurant, and the chef.
