Lloyd's on a Saturday night = awesome-sauce fun times! For under $12, you can rent yourself some roller skates or roller blades and hit the rink for a solid 5 hours, though your feet and legs might not take that kind of abuse if it's your first time out.
One thing about Saturday night public skate is that it seems this is a popular night out, especially for people who aren't the greatness maneuverers with four wheels strapped to their feet (like myself and my friends). The rink was full of little kids falling down, teeny boppers on dates and all manner of adults who don't know how to stop themselves. There were a couple of impressive skaters weaving in and out of the crowd with some fancy foot work though, they were fun to watch.
Things that rock:
- It's all ages friendly and sooo not intimidating if you're worried about falling.
- The tunes just keep playing.
- Debit, cash and credit accepted at the door.
- Nice smooth flooring to skate on (and hand rails around 2/3 of it to help hold up the beginners).
- Nice clean interior with tables for you to settle in at.
Things that rock less:
- No signage visible from MacLeod. You'll get lost if you don't know where it is. Tip: Turn by Part Source on MacLeod northbound. It's right behind that.
- We heard the same song 4 times. We were only there for an hour and a half. Work on song selection.
- All ages. Go later if your crowd doesn't include minors.
Otherwise, it's a fun spot to try out! I'll have more for you after my best friend and I check out some of their roller skating lessons. Oh yeah... they have lessons!!
