| - It was such a lovely day yesterday. Sun, Sun, Sun... There is nothing like packed patios to announce the arrival of Spring/Summer. My parents and I wanted to walk around before sitting at a patio, but my footwear was not decent. I limped into New Balance and the place was empty except one customer and two sales people. No one greeted us but I guess everyone was just miserable having to work inside on such a nice day.
I was looking for shoes that had support, but looked less like a regular "running shoe." I asked the man if they had such a product and the guy frowned and said something to the effect of you're SOL, because you either get the shoe that's "close to the ground" (NO SUPPORT) or you get shoes with lots of support, but don't expect a fashion statement with those.
Okay, gotcha. Then I got asked many times what I was looking for in terms of support. I said I just wanted a shoe for walking, but nothing too intense as the shoe would only be for my lunch time walks. I got asked again what kind of support I wanted. At that point, I responded I didn't know what support meant, to which the guy responded he too didn't know what support meant as well?!?!??!?! Talk about NOT knowing your products.
I really couldn't take any more of this nonsense, so I just picked up a shoe that looked relatively nice and asked for a size 6. Done and done.
I have to say I would not recommend this place for experienced sales people who know their products. If they don't even know what support means, than ahh, wrong business. Not only was this sales staff NOT knowledgeable, his engagement with customers sucked. He looked ultra bored. I don't mean to brand this store poorly just becuase of this sales staff, but if you're not going to be a good brand ambassador...
On that note, I love my new shoes and was able to walk around all comfy.
