| - This is a clear case of where AYCE substitutes quality for quantity. The service was excellent and our broths were really good. But it's hard for me to get past that they serve frozen proteins, especially the seafood proteins which obviously brings up questions about the age/freshness and quality of handling.
We were acknowledged immediately and seated right away when we entered on a Wednesday night around 8:30. A very thorough explanation of the menu, options, and where we could obtain the proteins and sauces was given to us. This was very helpful as we don't have the process down pat yet. We really didn't even look at the menu as everything was kind of done and explained to us. We ordered two broths with one being spicy and we were also informed that two skewers of chicken and two skewers of lamb came with our meal.
The selection of proteins, vegetables, and sauces was enormous. We were satisfied with the beef, chicken, and pork. As said before, the broths were flavorful also. But when it came to the seafood, almost everything was frozen when we pulled it out of the cooler. I needed a hammer and chisel to pry the scallops from their shells and the meat in the crab legs was frozen to a shriveled mess inside their shells. And of course when you attempt to cook a frozen protein it turns out to be a tough, dried out meat, which is my favorite.
The frozen seafood would usually be a deal breaker. But the service was excellent and the price was affordable at $26/person so I might give them another shot in the future and avoid the seafood.
