| - Downtown has really changed the last 5 years or so. Cleaned up and way for food options and things todo. The golden nugget has always been at the higher end, new room towers and new restaurants. The basic rooms are in the Carson towers which is the farthest walking from Fremont street. They are older rooms and if your looking for a clean cheaper options it's not a bad choice. Because the Carson tower is at the back of the property they are among the quietest rooms with very little ouce ouce from the Fremont street experience. I've also found the gold tower the next quietest followed by the rush tower. This is the golden nugget thou and they tend to think of the little things , like ear plugs in the rush tower rooms facing Fremont.
The gold and rush tower rooms are very nice and I've never had a bad room. Always large rooms and lots of extras, water, coffee etc. Onetime we managed somehow to get a free upgrade to a
Gold tower suite, it was 1000 sqft, had a bar, frig, full size living room. It was awesome.
All this typing and I haven't even got to the pool, spa or the variety of restaurants. The pool is the nicest downtown and really strip quality. Well they actually have 2 pools. One for everyone and one for adults only. The beds are not too expensive and a nice option when your not taking the water slide through the shark tank. I'm a fish guy and always enjoy the fish tanks at the nugget, whether it's the shark tank at the pool or charter houses tank in the restaurant. The charter house tank is packed with a nice variety of fish and all of them are spotless.
To wrap this up, I've stay many times at the nugget and you can't go wrong staying there, lots of options, clean and located off one of the most entertaining streets in Vegas Fremont.
