| - Every time I try and return something at Kohl's I've had an issue, but after this return experience I can confidently say I will never shop at Kohl's again. I went directly to the back customer service area of the Kohl's on Raintree to return 5 clothing items and 1 piece of jewelry, but didn't have the receipt (left it at home, oops). They said they would be able to pull up the transaction using the credit card that was used and to my surprise, they successfully did. Usually, there is an issue with their system and I leave upset because the card I'm certain I used somehow doesn't show up in the system, so you can imagine my excitement having a smooth return for once. I received a full refund for all 5 items but the final item-a watch-had to be returned at the jewelry counter because it was above a certain price. I made my way there and the lady behind the counter--Susie--began the return process for the watch. After the machine said "Successful token look up" three times, Susie informed me that the watch wasn't purchased using the same card as the rest of the items I returned minutes before. This is even more strange because just moments ago I was told the watch had to be returned at the jewelry counter because the price was too high, so clearly it was associated with that card and in your system. I immediately called my boyfriend and he confirmed that all items were purchased at the same time and on the same credit card. They tried two more times before calling a manager over--Frank--who didn't even feel the need to greet me nor make eye contact while handling my situation. He simply (and rudely) said there was nothing they could do except return the item as a non-receipt return which would only issue a refund for the price of the item as of today. I asked if he could verify how much the item was on the date it was purchased and he claimed there was no way for him to look that up. He said the cost of the item today would be what I would receive back but only if I accepted store credit.
H-E double hockey stick to the no, Kohl's. *Upon returning home, I found my receipt and sure enough-the watch in question was right smack at the top of the other 5 clothing items. Shocker.
Customer service in today's day and age is EVERYTHING. If you can't even take the time to greet your customers, seeing as that is your job as a Department store manager, then you may want to consider another line of work. It's no wonder to me that Koh'ls is consistently a 2 to 3 star rated business on Yelp. It is also no surprise to me that online shopping continues to grow in popularity. The hassle and rude taste this experience has left in my mouth is simply not worth it. And no amount of Kohl's cash back or markdowns will change my mind.
