Sancholi Bakery has stolen the spot in my heart formerly occupied by Mancini's. Well maybe not - but Sancholi Bakery is my go-to for fresh italian bread baked that morning to be eaten that same night.
Served in many of the local Bloomfield establishments, I found it for sale at the Groceria Italia; but one day when they were out they suggested I check at the bakery itself, so I did.
The bakery doesn't really do a retail business, but when you walk into the garage the baker will happily take a buck and change and put a still-warm loaf of bread in your hands.
On the day it's made, this bread can't be beat - crunchy crust, soft, sweet interior. In the following days, great for french toast.
