| - Wow. This listing was tough to find here on Yelp simply because most of us know this simply as Casino Royale.
Best Western Plus? Isn't that an oxymoron?
I've visited Casino Royale on a regular basis for years and applaud the owners for not selling the property to someone who would tear it down in favor of something new and modern.
We all have a favorite "dive bar" in our hometown, so I hope it is fair to say that Casino Royale works just fine as the "dive bar and casino" of the Las Vegas Strip.
The Michelob and Michelob Light bottles have run only $1 forever and if you're fortunate to get one of the coveted spots at a table game, the waitresses really hustle and keep modest glasses of beer, wine or spirits coming your way as fast as you can drink them.
Unfortunately for me, the last couple times I've ventured in here there was no seat for me to play my favorite table game: Blackjack Switch. (If you haven't heard of it, check it out and you'll never prefer regular blackjack again)
Part of this is the reputation and popularity of the game, but Casino Royale has to take responsibility as well since two tables clearly marked for play were not in use.
Sorry, but I'm not going to stand around very long waiting to gamble my money when let's just say there are a few other options in the surrounding area to do so.
And, as I chatted with another guy also waiting for a seat to play, Blackjack Switch is not nearly the "exclusive" that it used to be at Casino Royale. Over the past couple years, I've seen this game offered at more and more casinos in the area. As a matter of fact, later this same night I walked past it at Aria (albeit at a higher minimum bet).
The Casino Royale will always get my attention for those cheap bottles of beer and for $5 Blackjack Switch, but I do wish they would maximize more of their tables when people are clearly waiting to play that particular game.
