| - My ice maker was no longer working. I looked to Yelp to find an appliance repair company with good reviews and came upon Appliance Works. I gave them a call, they scheduled me quickly and the technician, Scott, was on time and courteous. My issue is with the mark up of the part, or labor cost, as it is not itemized on the invoice. Scott advised me that the entire ice maker needed to be replaced in my Frigidaire refrigerator, which I do not doubt. My issues is with the price and being charged $245. After Scott left I went on-line and found that you can buy the ice maker directly from Frigidaire's website for $59.99. So, essentially, I paid $185 in mark up for the part and the 20 minutes it took the technician to diagnose and install it.
I know everyone is in business to make money, and I have no issue with a reasonable mark up on the part and a reasonable amount for labor. Based on the aforementioned, I do not believe the mark up or labor rate, whichever it may be, was reasonable and seems excessive.
I will not be using Appliance Works services ever again nor can I recommend them to anyone based on my experience.
