I took my elderly mother to see Dr. Lam because our regular dentist was concerned about a spot on her gums and recommended getting a biopsy. I suspected that my mother, who suffers from dementia, had irritated the gum herself by digging at it while it was still numb after getting a filling. Dr. Lam took an X-ray and then suggested that we wait 3 weeks to see if the gum returned to normal. We scheduled a follow-up appointment for 3 weeks later, and when we returned, Dr. Lam looked at her gums again and said she was fine and that there was no need to do a biopsy. Although he had taken an X-ray and taken the time to examine my mother twice, he did not charge us anything.
