This review is way overdue. I was a bridesmaid at my cousin's wedding here. She had her wedding ceremony and reception at the McLean house.
Side Note: If you've ever seen the 2009 movie "The Time Traveler's Wife" staring Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams, the McLean house is in the movie and is featured as Clare's (Rachel McAdams) childhood home. I recognized the house immediately when I saw the movie.
The Georgian-style mansion was originally built in 1928 and has acres of gardens and lovely landscaping. The McLean family lived there until 1966 and renovated in 1982. It's currently used as a venue for weddings and special events with proceeds going to medical research at the Sunnybrook Hospital.
We had a room to change and get ready in and the groom and a room as well.
The wedding ceremony takes places outdoor in the spacious backyard and the reception is inside the house with round tables for 8 people.
For lunch I had the rosemary herb chicken served with veggies and couscous and iced tea.
Note that if you have a large guest list, then this may not be the place for you.
For a seated meal the capacity is as follows:
The Coach House = 40
McLean House = 72
Vaughan Estate = 150
Also, it's suggested that you book at least 12-18 months in advance.
Overall, I thought this was one of the nicest wedding venues I've been to. A lot of beautiful backgrounds for wedding photos.
