I walk by this business on a daily basis during the work week. I have not had a decent haircut experience since I moved to Phoenix and was interested in finding a place that was convenient and had a good reputation. Outside the salon there are pricing booklets. The women's hairstyle price is $55 (for a regular stylist) and the men's is $28 (again for a regular stylist). I was discouraged by this price difference since I am a woman that maintains a short hairstyle (similar to a men's cut), but I decided to inquire with the receptionist regarding what was considered a "men's" versus "women's" haircut since I was sure that this was a price difference based on length and style alone (not gender). I was told bluntly that it was based on gender alone which was followed up by the comment that women's cuts are more difficult than men's. My only take away from this interaction is that Aspire Salon & Spa Inc has clientele that consists only of long, flowing-lock women and short, buzz-cut men. I recommend that this salon rethink it policies to keep pace with the ever-changing world where women have short hair and men have long hair. Until then, I will take my business to a salon that understands these distinctions and prices accordingly.
