| - I've wanted to try this place forever, and finally got the chance to do so for a get together with friends. Everything from far away (i.e. pictures, passing by, signs) looks so tempting, so I was very hopeful that I would get an experience that would be enjoyable enough for me to return. Alas, it falls a bit shy of being a great experience, but I may yet return to see if my one disappointment could be remedied.
The venue is fabulous - great patio area, attractive interior with great vibe both from the décor and the crowd, large bar area that gives it a bit more oomph on the adult scene side, and pleasant enough staff that keeps the mood jovial. We had calamari which was typically good but not great, and the meatballs that were really good except for the fact that it was on the salty side. No gamey taste, tomato sauce that was good but had an interesting taste, and sufficiently sized for the price. Then we had the Di Faro pizza, my lone point of contention. I'm not a fan of the deep dish style, more the New York style pizza with thin, chewy crust. Well, Di Faro is a rectangular, deep dish style with just too much crust. The balance just isn't there between the bread and the toppings. As far as deep dish pizzas go, this one is pretty good. I'm giving it a 3.5 stars based on great venue with decent other dishes, but since I can't, I'll knock it down the half based on my dissatisfaction with the main dish. But, I am reserving a full star for another time when I will be trying a different style pizza.
Table-for-1 Factor: The bar area is large with ample stools and tables around it, so perhaps eating alone will work. But the atmosphere isn't necessarily suited for walking in alone, so keep that in mind.
