| - Although I'm not stone cold crazy over Cold Stone Creamery, it is an all right snack on a hot July afternoon in Las Vegas, just like today when my brother and I stopped here after hiking up in the Spring Mountains.
It seemed that most of Centennial Hills had the same idea as us. The relatively small shop was crowded with a long line as a result. The Cold Stone Creamery website refers to a visit to Cold Stone Creamery as a ten minute vacation. It was a ten minute line where I had time to decide what to order. What struck me is the ludicrous prices for ice cream. I wanted a scoop of ice cream, and seriously it would cost me $6. To me that is stone cold crazy. Maybe the 10 minute vacation refers to prices you pay for ice cream in a vacation resort. For the record, ice cream is not much more on the Las Vegas Strip. As the line gradually moved forward, I was leaning toward a signature creation. The Cold Stone Creamery signature creation is where the workers mix the ice cream that is supposedly prepared fresh each day with a topping that could be Snickers or Oreos then do the batching process to create a unique flavor such as Our Strawberry Blonde, The Pie Who Loved Me, or Cookie Doughn't You Want Some. There are three sizes that start off with the smallest costing $6.26 after taxes. I'd order the Peanut Cup Perfection with coffee ice cream in lieu of chocolate. When I was making my way to the front of the line, I noticed that all the employees looked exceedingly young. This brings a sense of doubt in my mind that this is ice cream that is prepared fresh daily.
The Peanut Butter Perfection was imperfection. It was inferior to the Peanut Butter Cup sundaes that I remember at Friendly's. The peanut butter cups were few and on the bottom. I really didn't notice the peanut butter flavoring. The coffee ice cream was ordinary just like the experience.
I am not stone cold crazy over Cold Stone Creamery. I feel they give too little for an inflated price. Baskin Robbins and Dairy Queen, in my opinion, give more and a tastier product for the money. However, I will never say never about a future check in to Cold Stone Creamery, especially after returning to the summer temps of Vegas after a hike up in the Spring Mountains.
