We came here on a recommendation from a local roaster. We had checked out other places but this was by far the best. They use JBC beans along with their own since they only have a limited supply of theirs. We had a cold brew along with a cortado. The cold brew was by far the best we had ever had. It was not bitter, naturally sweet, and full bodied without being watered down. The cortado also came with a small glass of carbonated water as typically found in Europe and other fine cafes. The cortado was nicely prepared with latte art. The temperature was still hot despite being cooled down by the warm milk. The espresso was not bitter and still retained some nutty flavor notes.
I went and talked with the owner to buy some cold brew but due to the limited equipment, they barely had enough for each day. We got to talking about other roasters and cafes along with their own farms where you can stay overnight. It even got to the point where he gave me a small sample of their microlot which I was able to take home. We brewed it in a V60 per his recommendation and it was spectacular! Fruity taste, almost tangerine-like and then mellows out to a more caramel smoothness. I'm not big on the flavor notes, but it was definitely one of the finest coffees ever. If you're looking for people who care deeply about relationships with farmers and fine espresso craftsmanship, I highly recommend visiting Fifth Element!
