This is definitely not a trail for beginners, though not an incredible challenge if you are a regular hiker. It involves scrambling and hiking by climbing up rocks, using your hands and sometimes sliding down on your butt. It's not really a regular walk along a trail. You can go up or down using 2 different trails. I went up the Echo Canyon and down the Cholla. The Cholla is longer, but a bit easier. The beginning of the Echo has railings and rock stairs. Make sure you are wearing hiking shoes or sneakers (with traction!!). It took about 2.5 hours and it was very rewarding. The view was great, but it was also pretty crowded. I would have gone early if I could. It's a lovely hike and I'd like to do it again.
