  • My wife and I finally made it up to LVSSR on March 1st, 2015 and absolutely loved it there. We were lucky enough to go on a snowy day which kept the trails fresh, and the resort also benefited from about a foot of new snow the week before. Getting there: about an hour from where we live way out in Henderson, or about 40 minutes from downtown Las Vegas. Parking: ample, and close. There is a 5$ charge for non-pass holders, but I think it's a fair trade to support the Lee Canyon area. Cost: we bought lift tickets in advance online and paid 48$ per, for a full day. Prices vary, but I'd suggest buying early to save, or getting the locals card. Snow: LVSSR has had a rough go of it the last 2 seasons with snowfall, as have most western ski areas, but they had ample coverage on the trails, and their grooming was excellent. Hopefully this dry pattern will shift in time for next year. Terrain: Chair 1 has solid blues that are fun but a bit short, when compared to Chair 2, which is not as steep (borderline green/blue) but offers runs long enough to be satisfying. Their terrain was limited due to lack of deep snow, off trail, but when they do get a good winter, there's plenty of terrain to explore, plus there is some hike-to terrain that would be fun for those wanting a challenge. For park bums, they offered boxes, rails, small, medium and large kickers, and jumps. Grooming: very good. There were a few crunchy/icy spots, but the groomers do a good job overall. Many of the local regulars said if not for the groomers, LVSSR would have closed a few years ago. Keep up the good work! Crowds: none. Lodge: small, but functional. The food was good, and I was happy to see they had local beer on tap. There are also an outside bar, and a fire-pit (actually a barrel) that you can warm up by. They had live music starting in the afternoon when we were there (inside). Overall: it's a great little getaway and they've done a good job at maximizing what they have. They are currently expanding over the next 8 years, so I am excited to see the improvements each season. This resort was reminiscent of a few of the small, local, ski areas that I grew up skiing at back in New Hampshire (Crotched, Pats Peak, Black mtn). I'll definitely be a regular here next season.
