Review is for the 2nd floor restaurant.
This is almost perfect except for the slow service. We waited around 30 mins for lunch on a Sunday, which is okay. But then somehow there were empty uncleaned tables and the waitresses took forever with any given tasks - forgetting our bill completely so I had to ask again. Although the staff seemed Japanese, their level of service was very mediocre compared to the service you'd get in Japan.
4 stars because the food itself was high quality. It's definitely a blend of new flavours on classics (udon, soba). For example the tsuke soba (where you dip soba into broth/sauce) was so interesting - it had both Chili sauce and soy milk - which I never would've imagined blending together. Taste was pretty good. Matcha was strong and pancakes were fluffy.
A side note that the interior design is also fantastic, much better than their downtown location. Very much a Japanese style that's authentic and totally something you might find in Tokyo.
Come if you like exploring new flavours. Skip if you are in a rush to eat and can't wait for slow service.
