Twice in the last two weeks I have had my Pilot in to have the A/C controls checked. I turn the A/C on the and the recirculation button lights up. It's not supposed to do that and I have to turn it off. In fact the owner's manual suggest you use that function as little as possible. For the last month we have been experiencing well above normal temperatures and my car sets out in the heat. Which means the car gets hot inside and the last thing you want is the hot air recirculating. The first time they told me it's because the auto function was on, keep in mind I've never used that function. Okay, so I take the car home and bam the next day I turn on the A/C and it does it again. It did it without fail almost every time I turned the A/C on except at night after the temperature had gone down. So back in I go on Wednesday and they tell me they can't find anything wrong. For the last two days it comes on every time except when the outside temperature has dropped. This only happens during the heat of the day and the temperature is 100+ I think the reason they can't find anything wrong is because they have the car inside a cool garage and so it doesn't get hot and nothing happens when they turn it on. As I was leaving the service rep said to bring it back when it happens so they can check then. Yeah right, unless I'm parked around the corner or up street no way will that happen. I have better things to do then set around a car dealership's waiting room.
I'm going take the car to the shop where I had it just recently. About a month and a half ago I took the car to Showcase to have them put HI lights in for me. After they were finished they told me my timing belt needed to changed. That didn't sound right since I had brought the car from them four months before and according to them everything checked out ok. So I took it to a highly recommended shop for a second opinion and guess what! The timing belt was fine. So I think I'll take it back to them to have the A/C controls checked out. This is the second Honda I've owned and the first one also had problems with the A/C system.
