I have a lot of apprehension going to a new salon. Even though the space can be tres chic, the stylists uber hip, and your bill $50+, you can still end up with terrible to mediocre experience. That's the worst. But the "cool" vibe at Volume comes with skilled stylists and an unpretentious environment.
I asked for a "new" stylist (keeping my price range to $45) who was good with naturally curly hair. They recommended Lindsay and I was not disappointed. First off, when I told her that I had not used shampoo/conditioner for the last 2 months--and that day my hair was particularly greasy and gross--she didn't show any signs of being weirded out. She seemed fine with not using any product though we ended up using Davine's paraben/'cones/SLS free line. She took her time to listen to my endless hair-woes but seemed confident about the "fix". The cut and style were carefully executed and I was happy with the results and, now 8 weeks out, the way it has grown out. Returning for my second appointment this week.
