  • I have spent 30 years loving Trader Joe's and their offer to take back any product we try. But I made a mistake and bought glucosamine tablets instead of capsules, which were like swallowing tiny bricks. I took them back and one of three men behind the counter said, "Where's your receipt?" I said, "I didn't keep it; I thought you took back all your products." He said with no smile or warmth, "Not vitamins without a receipt." What, because you'd re-sell them? No apology, no kindness. I felt sucker-punched; I thought Trader Joe's liked me. I was so angry and hurt it was silly. But I expected kindness and the policy to be honored and got neither. I've never seen a disclaimer; I felt betrayed. Now my Trader Joe's bags collected from around the country make me sad instead of happy.
