I asked JP to go to my house while I wasn't there to give me an estimate on repairing the water cut-off valve and 2 outdoor faucets. They called back to say it was going to be $350 which seemed high but they said the cutoff valve and related plumbing needed to be completely gutted and rebuilt. When I got back to the house they simply heated the old fittings, pulled the old ball valve out, and sweated in the new one bending the pipe coming out of the ground so it would fit rather than doing it correctly/Professionally. They then sweated in 2 of the cheapest hose faucets directly onto the pipes instead of sweating a threaded adapter on and screwing on a faucet. When I got the bill from JP, it was almost $400. when I asked to see the time stamp on the job and their hourly rate, knowing the lazy way they repaired it couldn't have taken even an hour, they said that's what I was told the price would be so that's what I had to pay. I said it was a estimate, assuming they were actually going to do the job correctly and professionally, and bill me the actual time it took. They then wrote on the receipt AFTER I confronted them that I knew that it was a fixed rate job (I didn't), and that nothing is leaking, refusing to give me the time stamp or the hourly rate. The cheap faucet gasket failed in 3 months and they don't make a rebuild kit for it and no one had a washer that would fit. I had to have another plumber come out to install a new one CORRECTLY. I asked him to look at the original ball valve and faucet work and he laughed, saying that want MAYBE a 45 min job. Total rip off. They are billing @ $300/hr for crappy work if they think you don't have any idea.
