| - The store itself is laid out very well, lots of selections. The sales woman that helped my wife and I was very helpful and knowledgeable of the products. If she was unsure of something she would excuse herself to find us the answer, which was only once. Ultimately we decided to go with a dining room table package that was advertised in their weekly ad.That day we had been approved for a credit card at their location and decided to put the whole purchase on the card since there was 0% interest for the first year.
The whole process was great, start to finish. It was upon delivery that the failures began. We paid the $50 delivery fee and expected a professional service. What we really got was a very subpar service and my wife and I were extremely disappointed. I don't know what contractors they use for delivery, but they really need to shop around for a replacement.
To begin, my wife was pregnant at the time and I was working full-time and could not be there for the delivery.
-I was not notified of delivery until TEN minutes before they arrived. Luckily my wife was home or this would have been rescheduled I'm sure.
-Upon arrival they brought in the furniture and were in a hurry to set it all up.
-They left several chairs with the plastic still attached. Which in order to have a nice appearance (like advertised) I had to completely disassemble the chairs so that I could remove the staples keeping the plastic in place. This took me about 30 minutes per chair, there were four chairs with the plastic still intact. I'm not employed by Ashley Furniture or their delivery contractor, yet I felt as though I should have been compensated for this time.
-We had ordered a rug as part of the package, which was delivered but they left the plastic on it and failed to unroll it. The delivery men told my wife "it wasn't in their contract to unroll the rug or place it." We were to do this ourselves is what she was told. Not really an issue, but my wife was pregnant and it would have only taken them maybe ten minutes to do.
-The delivery men left several screws strewn about our front room carpet, where my three year old daughter runs around. Careless on their part and a hazard for us and my daughter.
-Lastly, also as a part of the package, we ordered eight sets of dinnerware....which never showed up. They were told it was all on back order. Fantastic, we ordered this package a week prior to Thanksgiving and were told it would all be delivered the day before. Not so much. So there we were, the day before Thanksgiving with no dinnerware and we had been expecting several guests for dinner. Because of that, we had to go out and purchase everything separately that we had already bought through Ashley Furniture. If this was known before delivery, why didn't anyone at the warehouse notify us? They had our information.
Immediately after delivery my wife called me to let me know how it all went. I was very disappointed and unhappy, so I decided to call Ashley Furniture and express my concerns. I was connected with three different people, all of whom could not help me or did not have any answers to my concerns. The common response was " I'm sorry for the experience you had, we will relay the message to our warehouse managers."
So, here I am, a full month since the furniture was delivered and still no dinnerware. I have made my first payment on the credit card for items I do not currently own or have in my possession. We've called several times to express our concerns only to get the same response as mentioned above. This is a horrible delivery service that Ashley Furniture employs, I was expecting a much more professional service from them. Needless to say, I'm very unhappy with them and will not be purchasing anything else once this is all paid off.
