| - Ok. I'm going to start with the negatives just because they were so few and I don't want this to become a fluff piece.
Negatives: The whole bloody casino floor is full of smoke. Seriously, if you want to gamble at all, and you're a non-smoker, bring a bunch of changes of clothes. It's like that all over Vegas though :( bring the inhalers and the febreeze. The other small negative is that they don't clearly mark where the shuttle bus is so it really is a crap shoot (pardon the gambling pun) of finding the thing.
That being done, I have nothing (ELSE) but positives to say about the place. This place could teach lessons on proper customer service. From the moment we checked in it was nothing but top notch service. In my infinite wisdom, when I booked our flight didn't factor in the three hour time difference from the east coast. So when we walked into our hotel at 10 am I was fully prepared to hear them tell me, we're far too early to check in. I was told the exact opposite! They check us in right away and we were asleep and recovering from a rather cramped southwest flight.
Our room was large, smoke-free, and had coupon books to cover everything at the place. When I go on vacation, room service is a standard. We woke up, hit the buffet and the food was EXCELLENT, the took the shuttle bus into town as South Point isn't located near the strip. Shuttle bus runs hourly for the price of $8 round trip. Last shuttle leaves the strip at 1 am but the cab fare is not to bad (about $40 with tip) if you want to hang later.
There was so much to do at the hotel and so many good places to eat that we were always late getting to the actual strip. Not only did the food taste great but it didn't hit the wallet too bad either. Movie theater, bowling alley, arcade, and a spa experience to die for! Seriously the spa is the single most expensive thing we did all trip (including new year's eve) but it was totally worth the $400 (two of us for top notch massages and tip).
The gambling was so-so but I'm not the fairest judge of such things. The game I play the most is Texas Holdem, and their poker room left a lot of to be desired. The craps, black jack, and roulette tables were all shrouded in smoke so I didn't stay very long. So I'll wrap this review up.
STAY HERE!!! Seriously it was $100 less a night than anywhere on the strip and booking straight through the hotel was cheaper than any discount website. Just bring Febreeze for the smoke while gambling
