| - I thought it would be stupid to write a review on a car wash but after going to several different car washes and having varying experiences, I thought it might be good to share. I would rate this 3.5 stars but Yelp has yet to give the 1/2 star option.
Of the several car washes, the two I have most frequented are the Deerfoot Car Wash in NE Calgary and the Silver Dollar Car wash in SW Calgary.
Here is my much heralded tale from the Silver Dollar Car Wash at 5502 5 St SW; I spent $4.00 just to wash a 4 door Honda Civic EX. I had barely started rinsing and time was up. When I say wash, I mean with the brush. I hustled as fast as I could thinking I could rinse the car and put a coat of wax on it but I was sorely mistaken. I ended up spending $8.00 here. Add to that, you can put 2 cars in each of the bays so someone else can be washing their vehicle at the same time soaking you and your vehicle.
In contrast, I had been to the Deerfoot Car Wash several times and I spend $3.00 to wash the same car and have enough to even apply a coat of wax. This one has many bays but since it is on the corner of 64 Av NE and 11 St SE across the road from Deerfoot Mall which has a Wal-mart, it gets busy. Worst times to go are in the morning or late afternoon especially if it has been 2 days since our last snow and the snow from the roads is melted off. Understandable, and not the fault of the owner. Here, it is one car per bay. The water pressure is consistent and the soap cycle is most bubbly. The owner or owners keep it pretty clean; I have never seen it not taken care of.
In summary, more cost-effective, nicer facility, convenient location but can be busy. I'll be back next week; it is supposed to snow this week.
Be advised that winter and summer hours differ slightly but usually between 8am and 8pm, you are covered in any season just like your car.
