We went to this beach on a Friday during August. We got there around 10:30 (it was a hot day) and parking was easy and simple. There are changing rooms and bathrooms. The beach was not too crowded and the water was nice and refreshing. When we left around 2:30 the parking seemed a little busier (as did the beach) but there was plenty of space for people to lay out and we didn't feel suffocated. Also there is a place to get food ($2 pretzels, $2 water bottles, and $2.50 ice cream - Mitchells!) which was super convenient and exactly what we needed.
We also ran through and around the park the next morning, and that was a well shaded and safe run (sidewalks and cross walks/ signals) Overall, coming from a beach town, this beach was plenty to lie out and enjoy some nice water.
