At about 5:30 pm on a Friday night, our dog tore her dew claw almost clean off. We packed her up in the car immediately and started driving towards our regular vet's office while calling them to let them know we were on the way. They told us no way would they see us so close to closing. Called another local vet: same story. We drove by Junction West and dropped in. We explained the situation and the vet said he'd see us.
He took care of our dog very well, and it was not an easy task. He took the time to explain to us how to care for the wound and asked us to come back in 3 days so he could change the bandage. All of the initial appointment was done after hours.
When I returned 3 days later he changed the bandage and then explained that I could either come back in 3 days again for another change or he could explain how to do it myself. I chose the latter and not only did he explain how to do it but he gave me (not sold me, gave me) a few supplies.
His prices are very reasonable and he never charged us any extra fees because of his working after hours. It's a small office in a strip mall so it doesn't look like much from the outside. It's a very no-frills type of place: he doesn't sell toys or treats, there's no coffee machine or big-screen TV, not even any magazines in the waiting area but we received excellent care when no one else would see us at very reasonable prices. What more would you want?
