Went there the other night to listen to my drummer bud, The Joe Costello Syndicate. Had to make reservations, of course, unless one wanted to stand all night.
It's hard to find since there isn't a sign delineating where it is. I told my friend that it was hidden and one had to walk down more or less an alley to find it. I'm always surprised we find it with that description!
Asked the server what was in a manhattan. I dunno. She said, "Vodka?" Okay. She doesn't know what's in a manhattan. What I was referring to was what kind of whiskey. She didn't know and didn't volunteer to ask the bartender. She just showed me the bourbon list. Hmm. Guess she didn't hear me.
I told her to have the bartender just make it up as it is normally made. Well. ... Not drinkable. I sent it back and told her I'd order a wine. I asked if she recommended any particular red wine on the menu. She pointed out a $10/glass wine. I decided to go with the $14/glass. The wine was good.
Listened to the music. The acoustics is good, and, of course, the music was as well, which I already knew it would be. I look forward to going again.
