This was a hugely disappointing experience. My husband and I went in and chose to do the tasting menu because we love the experience of being surprised by what the chef chooses to do. The food was fine. Just fine. One course was actually a leftover special from Valentine's Day the day before (ricotta raviolo with citrus beets and a beet dust--not impressive), which seemed a little lazy to me. Probably my favorite dish was the octopus with sausage and potatoes. The octopus was so crispy and delicious, although it was served with a mustard that looked shockingly close to French's yellow mustard. This wasn't terrible though because it went so well with everything on the plate. The other dishes were fine, forgettable. Probably forgettable because it took FOREVER for them to course out our meal. I don't know if this was incorrect coursing/pacing done by our server or by the kitchen. Regardless, it was agonizingly long between courses (especially considering one course was leftovers). So much so that by the time the fourth course finally came out, we were both done eating since we had sat so long. There was no rhythm to this meal. The fifth course (short rib variation of what they normally serve) and sixth course (a boring chocolate dish) were mostly untouched because we were too full and over the whole dining process to eat anymore. The wine paring didn't quite gel with all the dishes either. There were a few wines that just weren't good and a few we would have paired oppositely.
I should note, the server was really gracious to replace my spilled martini so that was great of him.
All in all, we would not go back. I hate to feel like I've wasted my time or money; and that evening, I felt like both were wasted. Shame really.
