| - So, first things first...the ice cream is amazing. The idea that I can pick out my own milk/cream to be used to make the ice cream is very cool. In fact, as someone who can't handle too much sweet or rich food all at once...being able to pick low fat milk as my ice cream base resulted in me actually for the first time ever being able to finish my entire cup of ice cream. This is nice compared to my standard operating procedure at places like Cold Stone where I get the smallest size possible, then finish about 25% of it due to fat/sugar exhaustion.
That all being said, what pushes this place into AWESOME territory is the owner and staff. The owner exudes a sense of excitement about what he's doing that's beyond contagious. Upon ordering, my wife and I received high fives commending our ice cream creations being good choices. He also made it a point to offer to re-make for free anything we didn't like. The laughter, smiling, dancing and general cheer that came from the three people working there was just absolutely infectious. The kicker here, is that it all seemed so genuine. I've been to many places that force employees to be cheery, and I usually tend to see straight through it as an act...but in this case the exact opposite is true.
The cherry on top of this experience is that when my wife and I were enjoying our ice cream, the owner saw that my mother in law didn't order anything...and promptly brought her over and gave her a free banana popsicle that he had just made in the back. So cool. There is a reason that so many reviews mention the owner...he's got that rare ability to inspire happiness. Hell, I think I'd pay money to go here and just talk to the guy for a few minutes when I'm having a bad day.
Go here...this is the type of place that deserves to do great.
