I stayed at the Alexandrie Hostel for 3 days and I must say that I probably had one of the most lovely hostel experiences ever. First of all, the owner (?) Luke was a great resource for almost anything you need to know about Montreal. He exudes so much pride in the city, that he was very willing to share his knowledge of the city - from places to go, to transportation recommendations. I had fun talking to him about the cultural heritage of Montreal and its rich, though quite contentious political history. The staff were friendly and amazing. My room was clean, and I always looked forward to the pancakes for breakfast. They had huge refrigerators and there was ample space for me to keep all my food. The kitchen was huge and I could easily cook anything I am able to buy from Montreal's eclectic food stores. It was also close to the Beaudry and Berri UQAM Metro stations. I highly recommend this place.
