| - As far as the staff of this facility, I have nothing but nice things to say...well, until I got to the "after the first class trial, now lets discuss joining" part of the session.
To backup a bit, I purchased the trial that's offered all over Facebook for three classes and a free pair of PINK gloves. I was already weary to try kickboxing, but decided the deal being offered was good enough that, at the worst, I would do my best to enjoy the three classes I'd paid for and, at the best, I would have a new regular workout. To start out, I entered this facility at the regularly scheduled time in order to get my tour and cover my first visit paperwork. In between all of this, the woman at the front grabbed a pair of black gloves and before I could correct her, she wrote my name on them. Ok, guess I'm getting black gloves instead.
The class was pretty good, I'll admit. I felt incredibly awkward during it, as it was different from my normal sort of workout, but, I did feel worked towards the end. Before I'd even shown up, I had promised myself that I would only continue past the three classes if they offered a drop in plan where I could pay for individual classes as I show up, with the goal in mind to complete two classes a week. As I got through the workout, I slowly began to change my mind and promised myself that if their membership was $80.00 or under for the month, I'd sign up and even that number was pushing my limit. Not even close to that amount. I apologize that I can't remember the exact "special offer" they gave me, but just to join and be a card carrying member, after their "first class specials" would have been something like $70.00 with an additional fee of somewhere between $140.00 - 160.00 a month. So, immediately I tell the girl that's working with me that I can't do that amount and will just stick with my LVAC membership and take my last two classes. Wow...immediately, I start to compare their pushiness to that of a car salesman when they start to lose a potential sale. I got a spiel about how I probably spend that much a month to go out and have drinks with my friends and I could re-allocate that to them instead. At this point, I realize that the hardest part of this session wasn't the actual workout...it was keeping the fake smile on my face while I agree with them that I'll think about it for the next hour and when they call to sign me up, I'll be more open to it. This was just so I could finally leave, because they were not willing to take no for an answer while I sat in front of them.
They called me 36 minutes after they said they would and, by then, I was so relieved that I thought they'd forgotten about me that I took a shower instead and missed the call completely. I also have not gone back for the last two classes that I paid for. Again, this was a great workout and, if you have the means, sign up. As for myself, I'm good.
