When we moved to Madison I became absolutely addicted to the hot and spicy cheese bread. There'd be cheese in little formed 'pockets', a layer of cheese on the bottom, and cheese in the bag that had oozed out of the bread during cooking. The quality of the bread was also excellent. Over the past couple years the price of the bread has gone up from $5 to $8, and the amount of cheese in each loaf has dropped dramatically. No bottom layer of cheese, one cheese 'pocket' at most per loaf, and a little bit of dried ooze at the bottom. The bread itself is still solid, but they should re-title the loaf something like 'hot and spicy with a tiny hint of cheese' bread. Disappointment.
I like the bakery location and the quality of their breads and desserts, my qualms are more with that their top product has gone the way of many good things----way up in price, down in quality. No longer a culinary destination.
