  • POLLO FUNDIDO PLEEEEEEEASE! I'm surprised by some of the negative reviews for El Encanto. I would agree that it can be somewhat pricey and the birds can be a bit much (especially when people feel the need to feed them from their tables), but I actually really like this place. My boyfriend brought me here when we first started dating and we come back on a regular basis. The service isn't always great, but they do their jobs and I've never had any big problems. I love the unique atmosphere here, even if it is a tad bit cheesy. It is completely unexpected in the middle of the country-western Cave Creek. The inside of the restaurant is starting to look a bit run-down, but the old vibe kind of lends itself to a somewhat authentic Mexican feel. I particularly like getting a table outside during the warmer months, or inside by their floor-to-ceiling windows. It's also a fun place to bring out-of-town guests. I have to admit that I have only ordered one meal here: Pollo Fundido. It is one of my favorite meals of all time and I crave it on a regular basis. It is so good that it almost bumped them up to 4 stars. I don't even need to look at a menu. Their chips and salsa are also decent and I know my boyfriend likes their fish tacos. All in all, El Encanto is by no means a place to rave about, but I am happy to make the trip up from time to time. The Pollo Fundido totally makes the drive worth it.
