| - Do yourself a favor, find somewhere else for vaccinations. I have a crazy schedule between work (always on the road & sometimes out of town in rural NV), school, and being the primary caretaker for my grandmother with Alzhiemer's and I NEED a schedule to manage daily function. I called to schedule a TB test, got immediately shutdown when I asked to schedule my follow up test reading 2 days later (typically 24-48 hours after the shot is administered). She told me that I can't schedule anything until I get my shot administer and am seen. So I asked the receptionist, "isn't it kind of 'silly' to assume that you will have availability AND that I will be completely free during the specific times that you guys have availability on the day you offer me AFTER my shot is administered? Won't that be a waste of a shot if nothing is available? (Mind you I need a 2 step shot, 2 visits within a 48 hour window and another 2 visits 7-10 days following the initial set). She proceeded to pause for an eternity and didn't answer then I prompted "Hello?" X5 for my question, I had thought she hung up on me, and finally said she would put me on hold and check after telling me "no" (without even attempting previously), came back on the line and said the nurse will administer the shot, you don't have to see your primary care doctor so they should have ample availability and be able to accommodate your schedule. Fine, done scheduled.
I get a call the morning of the scheduled appointment and get notified that the doctor is out and the nurse can't administer the shot without the doctor's signature, fine I get it, things happen and rescheduled to the following week. Shots pushed back 1 week.
I show up to my 8am appointment (I have a voicemail to confirm that they even stated "Hi we are confirming your 8am appointment") and wait near 45 minute and nothing, I walk up to the receptionist to ask for an update for the expected time and she tells me I don't have a set appointment and I'm scheduled to be seen at 12:40PM... ***insert your favorite adult "choice" words*** I said no, I DO have an appointment and it was for 45 minutes ago. The other receptionist said since the nurse is administering my shot, it would be based on her availability between patients/Dr's appointments (which I wish I was told that from the get-go prior to scheduling at all), she went to check with the nurse and told me to wait 10 minutes to be seen.
I waited 20 minutes and still no updates, I then asked again and the receptionist didn't engage in any eye contact, continued to type for several minutes while I stood in front of her and waited until she got up to check with the nurse yet again. She had the attitude that I was a nuisance and asking for something crazy (my schedule appointment...). They eventually responded that the nurse I was supposed to see is busy and they will ask another nurse to see me but she's discharging a patient right now so it could take some time. So 1 hour and 20 minutes in and still NO SHOT!!!!!!!!
There is no excuse for any patient at a primary care facility to wait this long for a shot that takes less than 5 minutes, start to finish!!! I didn't even have to see a doctor today, this is nuts!!! 2 weeks in attempting to get my TB shots here and still left with no shots, unbelievable. I love my doctor but I'm ready to "break up" with this office, what a joke. I've worked front staff for medical offices... pay for quality employees who actually give a sh*t about your patients/customers and empathize/understand that people have responsibilities and lives outside of the doctor's office and can't just simply "drop everything" to wait around for hours on end to get shots/vaccinations.
Update: just got seen at "The Vaccine Center", in & out without 5 minutes of my SCHEDULED appointment which I made walking from Dignity Health to my car, same day appointment. Really wish I hadn't wasted 1.5hr with Dignity this morning but I hope my experience saves others from the same mistake! They also have a student discount on vaccinations with a valid ID.
