  • I have been to the live auctions twice and have bid online. For the most part, satisfied with the outcome and it is fun if you have some money to burn and nothing to do on a Saturday for the live bidding. It is VERY easy to get caught up in it when you're there in person though and over bid on things that are totally not worth it. Research the value of things first if you can. On the flip side, you can also find some major bargains. So, if you over bid on a few things, you can usually get some good deals to help balance it out if you don't go too crazy. Be prepared for them to take your credit or debit card if you go to the live bidding and hold it for the entire time you're there and place a $200 hold on it when you register to bid. Just a little unnerving for me that they physically hold it. Also, closely inspect everything for damages, imperfections, etc in person prior to bidding during the designated preview night. Yesterday I was told I couldn't handle anything during the auction, after having picked up and inspected several items all day (I didn't realize they had this rule) - I was told this at the very end when I was looking at a small statue close up. Good thing I did though, because it had a crack running through it in the back. There are of course things you see in person that you do not see in pictures - I could not tell when I saw it online and it was not mentioned in the auction...and everything is sold "as is." Most of the people are very nice to deal with, although yesterday I won several auctions - almost $500 worth during the live auction (yes I went a little crazy) and was given a nice, quality cardboard box with handles to put a lot of the smaller items in and on my way out was made to remove everything from the box and get a box out of the dumpster outside. Not very accommodating. Also, they had to check off everything twice. Once when they were giving it to me and once when I was on my way out. Kind of a pain when you have that much stuff; I guess I understand...it's just time consuming. They definitely account for everything, which is good for the people who consign items. Also asked if I could leave this large, brass lamp I won as part of a lot behind when I was getting my stuff and was told I would be charged a $500 dumping fee. YIKES - kind of severe. I just thought they could apply it towards a future auction but didn't realize it does not work that way. The website is awesome, I must say. Very user friendly, but hard to use on my iPhone because new windows open up every time you click on something. There is also a hold placed on your card if you bid on anything online. Overall a good experience - I enjoy myself and come out with some cool items for myself and for resale. Just have to be conscientious about the money being spent and the quality of product.
