 | - I love me a good blowout and since my go to girl packed up and moved to NYC, things just haven't been the same. I've been to StyleBar about 6 times and I'd say it's ok, just ok. If you get a good stylist, then you are lucky. I have very curly hair and these blowouts are lucky to last through the entire evening, this should not be the case! Even on a non-humid day, my blowouts from here tend to frizz out fast whereas my actual hairstylist and old blowout girl gave me blowouts that would last for days and still be fantastic. Of the 6 times I have been here, I have had 2 fantastic blowouts, 2 so-so ones that frizzed out within 2 hours and 2 god awful ones where I just put my hair up before my event was over.
My main beef with this place though is the receptionist. For my birthday, someone bought me 4 blowouts and it is on my file there. I went for my last blowout and the receptionist insisted that no, 'this could not be the case' as they do not do this...I spelled my name over and over for her, like at least 5 times (the last name is long and tricky) and she kept shaking her head. Exasperated with the process and tired of arguing and insisting, I paid with my Visa. As soon as the transaction completed, she miraculously found my blowout 'tab' and didn't even apologise, she just told me to remind them to use it next time, GRRRR.
The salon itself is nice and clean. The supplied iPhone chargers usually don't work but oh well. Most appointments have started on time or within 10 minutes of my scheduled time, so no complaints there as they always give me water or a coffee while I wait.
Oh, and don't pay for the upgrade scalp massage, it's a complete rip off.
