I finally made it out for lunch at Roast last week. It was busy but not too crazy and much brighter than I imagined it in my head. We were seated at a small two-top; adequate for our food but way too cozy for our lunch meeting.
I went with the pulled pork sandwich. Delicious! The apple slaw was the perfect bright note against the roasted pork. I'm not often a fan of sweet in a savory setting but it really worked and was probably my favorite BBQ/slaw combo in a long while. My only complaint about the sandwich was that my first bite was a large chunk of fat. As mentioned, I was in a lunch meeting, so I just powered through; normally into a napkin it'd go. Blech.
Our server was great and checked in to make sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. Service was also quick in terms of getting our food and check, a boon for a quick lunch if you're popping out of your office.
During the course of our meeting the lunch rush cleared out and we were able to move to a large booth. After my meeting buddy left I stayed to listen to a conference call and wasn't hassled for hanging around. The bartender did stop by to make sure I was good on my water and to see if I needed anything else.
Prices were reasonable and I look forward to returning to try their sweet potato sandwich.
