I'm a grocery store enthusiast, so I was pretty jazzed when I heard the west side was finally getting a whole foods. Unfortunately it doesn't live up to the high standards I've come to expect from whole foods, specifically when it comes to the prepared foods. There were 4 prepared food bars: regular salad, speciality salad, soup, and Mexican. Out of all four of these, there were exactly two options for cheese: feta or blue cheese. The salad bar itself was also severely lacking...very little in terms of protein you can add to a salad, which makes for a pretty lack-luster lunch. I don't think they even had hardboiled eggs or regular carrots to add. The seafood gumbo from the salad bar was also pretty bland and very skimpy on seafood. I used to get lunch at the Beachwood Whole Foods when I worked on the east side a few years back, and I've been spoiled rotten by the whole foods in Chicago...while it's exciting to have the option, this Whole Foods needs some serious improvements.
