| - Let me start this review by saying I'm driving from Bakersfield, CA to Stoney's tomorrow SOLELY to dance at Stoney's. That should tell you what I think of Stoney's. I love the place - great music, great dance floor, great dance lessons.
Why four stars? Becauase of Stoney's drink prices and how they're advertised. I've been there and spent quite a lot for drinks and then found out there was some special I could have had that would have saved me a fortune - very irritating. The bartenders, though very good at what they do, don't advertise what is available at all. People like me, who now know this routine, now know to ask FIRST what specials are available that evening. Here's an example of how bad it is: one evening I went, the cover charge included a "drink ticket". When I took the drink ticket to the bar, the bartender had no clue what it was even for (I was one of the first in the building that night). So, the bartender had to go ask what drinks I could get with the drink ticket - apparently there is zero communication between management and bartenders on how to promote specials or even in understanding the specials that are available.
So: big recommendation to go to Stoney's!! However, if you go, make darn sure you ask the bartender what specials are available to you and save yourself the disappointment of finding out too late.
On another note: if you're a Social Media kind of person that likes "checking in" with Facebook or Foursquare ... Stoney's offers free entrance and other specials just by your checking in. However: check in FIRST before you even walk into Stoney's and find out what Special you get. That way, if you get free entrance, you can get it right then. You can't go back and request a refund of your cover charge if you check in to Foursquare after you already paid.
Enjoy!!
