  • This GNC is still open. It may as well stay considered "closed" because of really lackluster customer service. I had to search deep within the search confines of Yelp to find this location. I was in the area and needed my regular supply of protein (whey/casein). I figured why not stop by since I was already here. I usually like to go in and grab what I need and go. But the employee in today decides to try and up-sell, lecture, impose a bait/switch of the product, etc. Up selling I understand because it's business but all the other habits were annoying. I walked in looking to get two tubs of protein supplement, there were 2 other customers already inside. A female was being helped by the only employee around so I wasn't greeted with the "hi, can I help get you anything?" line. I go straight for the products I normally get and grab then. Then I browse looking at the newer products waiting for the female customer to get bamboozled. When she leaves, I go to pay for my tubs and he says if I knew what I was buying. I say yeah this is for post workout and this is for bed time or whenever I want slow absorbing blah blah. Then I look at him and think that he should know what I'm talking about because I'm in shape and he's an overweight wannabe nutritionist. Then he says what vitamins I take and I say that I eat well enough to not need vitamin supplements but I do take fish oil/vitamin d when I need to. He pulls out some expensive waste of time multi vitamin bottle and says I should get this. To make this shorter, he tries to switch my tubs which was already at about $50 together to two other tubs which came out to almost $90 together. That came out of no where and he was actually ringing it up, including the multi vitamin pills. I needed the fat man to slow down, he obviously did not know no means no. I wasn't agitated because he was a "try hard". So I told him, no I don't need a price check I just want my two tubs. Then he tries to get me to sign up for a membership card which would save me 10%, I tell him let me use his instead and he says he doesn't have a membership card. I don't judge a book by its cover but this guy did not look like he worked out, ate right, or had real (not commercial) knowledge of nutrition or fitness.
